本作品は黄金背景技法による原画作品です。
板に下地を施し、油彩とテンペラによる多層構造の上に本金箔を重ねて制作されています。
本作品《迦陵頻伽》は、仏教美術に登場する霊鳥「迦陵頻伽」を主題に、天上の音楽と祈りの響きを象徴的に描いた作品です。
迦陵頻伽は極楽浄土に住むとされる霊鳥で、人の顔と鳥の姿を持ち、その美しい歌声は仏の教えを伝えるといわれています。
